Call (805) 781-5450 during business hours. This call should take about two minutes.
Hi, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I'm a constituent in District [YOUR DISTRICT]. I'm calling to ask Supervisor [SUPERVISOR NAME] to end the county's contract with Flock Safety and remove their ALPR cameras from San Luis Obispo County. I'm concerned that these cameras photograph every vehicle that passes — not just suspects — which means every resident's movements are being tracked and stored without a warrant. Innocent people have been falsely identified by Flock's system in other cities, and independent security researchers have found serious vulnerabilities in the cameras themselves. Communities across California — including Mountain View, Richmond, and Santa Cruz — have already removed these cameras. I'd like SLO County to do the same. Can you let the Supervisor know that [YOUR NAME] called, and that I'd appreciate a response? Thank you.
A note on effectiveness
Personal stories are more persuasive than statistics. If you have a specific reason why this issue matters to you — your commute route, your profession, your family — weave it in. Elected officials and administrators hear from lobbyists every day; they hear from ordinary constituents far less often.
